Bitburg & Molsheim

Some pictures from Dragracing in Bitburg and Cox Show Molsheim

The weather conditions were very changeable in Bitburg.
With some rain breaks, Wallä Zwahlen could complete 12 runs with his street bug.

His silver Bug did the 1/4 mile in 13,9 seconds! and this with "only" 2l  engine with 44 IDF and with 175er rear tires

(no Slicks)

Wow!!

His engine is equipped with JPS HD Aluminium Pushrods
and a 3,3kg JPS Flywheels,

revs up to 7200rpm every run easy!

Wallä has built a very nice engine

Technical Facts Formel Super Vee

Today's blog is for People the love the fine art of Formula Vee and Formula Super Vee.

For all guys the prefer "hard" stuff like K Motion K800 Dual Chevy springs, steel pushrods and monstervalves  they can stop reading here.......

I've found two tables to the engine technology of Formula Vee and Super Vee, which show the fine technique to build a "air"-cool engine .

Have a look on valvespring pressure, valve size and carburetor size and the performance per liter they achieve.

My 1915er streetengine  is built "almost" identical
I love the response of this engine ......

Try it yourself once , a wide grin is for sure

nice week

JPS Ultimate Racing Aluminium Pushrods

This is how the JPS Ultimate Racing Pushrods look like before installation of the Manton Tips

The Pushrods are tappered on both sites
Deephole drilled from one site!

There is no gap or edge in the middle

The JPS Ultimate Racing Pushrods are made of a special aluminium material.
This material is used in engine areas on aircraft where the temperature often encountered up to 250°F (120°C)

This material does not lose strength when the temperature rise up to 250°F (120°C)

7075 T6 Aluminium will lose 3 times more in strengh when its getting 300°F (150°C)
And the pushrods get in contact with the oil that go up to the heads and with the hot oil coming back from the heads!

JPS Ulimate Racing Pushrods are only available cut to your lenght.
I will do the installation of the tips (special proceed and tools are required)
So you only must give me the lenght you need!

This pushrods can handle up to 280kg spring pressure (but no serious engineer need that much)

It was not easy to do this photo
But you can see, perfect clean hole no gap or edge

Camshaft Gear Modification

For my HP street-engines I modify the camshaft gear as you can see below

I cut two approx. 2,5mm width an deep to the ground grooves in the cam gear.
This is to reduce the surface that is in contact and the oil can squish out easier.

Or you can put some marking ink on the cam gear and find out how much surface you need.
You can reduce it by nearly 40%
For HP street engines there is no reason to run straigthcut cam gears
To you need some examples?

This is the camdrive on the Porsche 910 race engine

This on a Carrera 6 engine

and this on a 3.0l RSR engine

All this engines turn up to more than 8000 rpm, producing more than 110 hp/l

The camshaft gear on this engines must drive the huge oilpump, 2 duplex chains for the camshaft that serve 12 valves with double valvesprings.

So I think this are good arguments to throw the noisy straight cut gear in the trash ;-)
